New details have emerged about the court case involving Australian soccer star Sam Kerr, who faces a racially aggravated charge in London. The Chelsea striker appeared in Kingston Crown Court entering a not guilty plea to accusations of using insulting or threatening words that allegedly caused distress to a police officer in Twickenham on January 30, 2023.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a complaint involving a taxi fare. Kerr is set to undergo a four days trial in February next year with two police officers expected to provide evidence. Football Australia stated they would monitor the situation emphasizing support for players while Chelsea has not yet commented on the incident. The club previously condemned racial abuse in a 2023 statement.
