Some Chelsea players with long term contracts are reportedly expressing regret over the duration of their deals. After a 4-2 defeat to Wolves signs of discontent surfaced including a tweet from Thiago’s wife seemingly calling for Mauricio Pochettino’s resignation.

Pochettino admitted his players were ‘not good enough’ but expressed trust in them. However, some players are said to struggle to align with the club’s initial ‘project.’ Chelsea extensive contracts influenced by amortisation loopholes are causing dissatisfaction among players.

The Premier League limit on contract amortisation to five years followed Chelsea bold activity in the 2023 transfer windows. The team recent loss to Wolves has left them in eleventh place with fans expressing frustration.

Chelsea faces Aston Villa in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday with Pochettino emphasizing the need for player assessments before deciding the lineup.
