Cedric Doumbe experienced an unusual defeat to Baysangur Chamsoudinov at PFL Europe Paris event citing a glass shard in his foot as the cause. Referee Mark Goddard halted the bout in the third round after Doumbe complained about his foot. Despite Chamsoudinov being declared the winner, Doumbe revealed the injury expressing his desire to continue.
Goddard denied a timeout for the injury and when Doumbe seemed reluctant to proceed, the referee stopped the fight awarding Chamsoudinov a technical knockout victory. The defeat marked the first in Doumbe’s professional career while Chamsoudinov remained unbeaten.
In other bouts, Briton Jack Grant suffered a split decision loss and Connor Hughes secured a win in the lightweight tournament’s opening round. Kane Mousah faced defeat with the next PFL Europe event set for Newcastle on June 8.
