Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing dominated the first day of the Sepang Test setting an impressive lap time only half a second off the track record. Pedro Acosta from Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 followed closely behind in second place while Fabio Quartararo of the factory Yamaha team took third.
Defending champion Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez faced difficulties with Bagnaia crashing out and Marquez dealing with technical issues. Ducati had a strong showing with six out of seven riders in the top ten. Aprilia showcased several upgrades with Maverick Viñales setting the fastest time for the team.
