Emma Raducanu made an impressive comeback to win against Caroline Garcia, evening the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying tie between Great Britain and France. Raducanu confidence grew as she defeated Garcia who is ranked 28th in the world with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on the clay court in Le Portel. Earlier in the tie, British number one Katie Boulter suffered a comprehensive defeat of 6-2, 6-0 against Diane Parry. The best of five tie will conclude on Saturday.

Raducanu limited experience on clay coupled with her injury struggles has limited her appearances for her country. Despite initially trailing Garcia, Raducanu game gradually improved with her serve, forehand and aggressive returns proving decisive. After a moment of premature celebration, Raducanu refocused and secured victory. Great Britain hopes Raducanu can continue her form in the reverse singles on Saturday with the winner advancing to November’s finals.

Raducanu performance against Garcia showed improvement on clay and her ability to compete against high-quality opponents. Despite Garcia strong start, Raducanu aggression and resilience led her to dominate the match. Targeting Garcia backhand, Raducanu remained composed and secured victory with a confident smash at the net. Looking ahead to her potential match against Parry, Raducanu acknowledges the challenge of maintaining fitness and intensity for consecutive days of play.

She sees the match against Garcia as a valuable test of her abilities particularly as the underdog on Garcia favored surface.
