Emma Raducanu Opens Up About Exhaustion After Early Madrid Open Exit
Following her early exit at the Madrid Open, Emma Raducanu revealed feeling “mentally and emotionally exhausted” due to her packed schedule and the absence of her coach, Nick Cavaday. The British No. 6 suffered a disappointing 6-2 6-2 defeat against qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle marking her most one-sided loss of the year.
Raducanu acknowledged the challenging weeks leading up to the tournament, including her positive performances at the Billie Jean King Cup and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Despite missing her coach, she appreciated the support of the LTA Iain Bates.
Raducanu plans to take a few days off to rest and recharge after a strenuous month of continuous competition. While she managed to persevere in Stuttgart, she admitted to running out of energy in Madrid. Reflecting on her loss, Raducanu credited Carle experience on clay and acknowledged her opponent superior performance.
