Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the Miami Open due to a lower back injury although her management assures that it’s not a serious concern. The 21 years old was scheduled to play China’s Wang Xiyu in the first round but decided against risking further injury. This setback comes as Raducanu aims to bounce back from a challenging 2023 season disrupted by injuries.
Despite her recent defeat at Indian Wells, Raducanu’s participation in Great Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup squad remains uncertain due to her injury. Ranked 288th globally, Raducanu’s focus this year has been on game development rather than immediate results.
Meanwhile, other British players like Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans, Jack Draper and Katie Boulter are gearing up for their matches at the Miami Open. Murray, a two times champion in Florida is set to face Matteo Berrettini in the first round while Norrie and Boulter have received first-round byes.
