Emmanuel Adebayor Expressed His Strong Hope And Support For Victor Osimhen

Emmanuel Adebayor believes Victor Osimhen could have a significant impact similar to Didier Drogba if he were to make a move from Napoli to Chelsea. Osimhen has been a target for Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal due to his impressive performances. His track record at Napoli showcases 67 goals and 17 assists in 119 appearances, where he played a crucial role in securing the Series A title last season by scoring 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions.

However, a stumbling block in his potential transfer has been the €120 million (£103 million) release clause in his contract. Despite this, Osimhen has expressed his desire to join Chelsea. Adebayor, the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker believes Osimhen’s attitude, mentality, and determination make him well-suited for success in the Premier League.

Adebayor stated to BBC Sport Africa, “He has the right attitude, mentality, and determination to excel there. I’m praying for him to move to the Premier League and show what he’s capable of. The Premier League is the toughest and best league in the world.”

Adebayor envisions Osimhen as a potential replacement for his idol Drogba and foresees him making a significant impact in England, drawing parallels to Drogba’s legacy. Chelsea is in the market for a striker, especially with Nicolas Jackson on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations and Christopher Nkunku sidelined due to injury. Despite being linked with Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed contentment with the current striking options at the club.

Pochettino stated, “I am very positive and happy with the squad. If something appears, we will announce it. It is not necessary to sell to buy some players.” This suggests Chelsea’s satisfaction with their current squad but does not rule out potential acquisitions if deemed necessary.
