Eric Ramsay Makes MLS History: Youngest Head Coach Joins Minnesota United

Manchester United’s first-team coach, Eric Ramsay has departed to become the youngest head coach in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Minnesota United. The 32 years old Welshman who joined Manchester United in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also served as an assistant coach for the Welsh men’s team.

Ramsay the youngest British coach to earn a UEFA Pro Licence in 2019 expressed excitement about joining a club with a strong football culture. He will leave his role at Old Trafford after the Premier League derby against Manchester City.

Minnesota United’s chief soccer officer, Khaled El-Ahmad believes Ramsay is the ideal choice to lead the club citing his experience and alignment with the club’s vision. Ramsay replaces interim boss Cameron Knowles and takes charge after Minnesota’s 2-1 win against Austin FC in the MLS season opener.

Manchester United thanked Ramsay for his contribution and wished him success in his new head-coach role in the US.
