Newcastle’s Callum Wilson faces a setback in his bid for a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad due to a pectoral muscle injury requiring surgery. The 31 years old sustained the injury during a match against Nottingham Forest and initial optimism for a quick recovery has been replaced by the need for a three months absence.
Despite the potential timeline allowing for a return before Euro 2024, Wilson’s chances of securing a spot in the squad are diminished. With Alexander Isak also recovering from a groin issue Newcastle may rely on winger Anthony Gordon as an emergency striker.
