Everton’s 10 points penalty for violating Premier League financial rules has been reduced to six points after an appeal. The initial sanction the largest in Premier League history dropped Everton from 14th to 19th in the table. The reduction moves them from 17th to 15th but the club still faces a possible additional points deduction.

Everton which admitted the breach is awaiting a hearing for alleged breaches in accounts for 2022-23. The reduction was based on legal errors in the initial commission’s decision but Everton might face further consequences pending the outcome of the second charge.

Nottingham Forest and Manchester City are also charged with financial breaches.
