F1 Insights: Gasly’s Awareness of Hamilton’s Ferrari Move and Alpine’s Ambitious Changes

Alpine driver Pierre Gasly revealed that he wasn’t surprised by Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for the 2025 season stating he was aware of talks between Hamilton and Ferrari. Gasly a close friend of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc did not disclose how he learned about the move. He expressed little sympathy for Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s teammate who now seeks a seat for 2025.

Alpine after major internal changes introduced a bold car concept for 2024. Gasly acknowledged the risks but emphasized the potential for unlocking performance later in the season. The new car includes changes to the suspension aimed at improving aerodynamics and mechanical performance.

Team principal Bruno Famin acknowledged the engine’s disadvantage but believes the team can compensate with the car performance. Alpine made significant changes viewing it as their last chance under current regulations before the 2026 rule change.

The A524 incorporates many big changes aligning with the Red Bull-originated design philosophy. The team also launched their 2024 endurance racing program with Mick Schumacher participating alongside his role as Mercedes F1 reserve driver.
