Yamaha MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo disclosed that Piero Ferrari hinted at the signing of Lewis Hamilton to the Formula 1 team during Quartararo’s visit to Ferrari’s Maranello base. The announcement of Hamilton joining Ferrari for the 2025 season came as a surprise to the motorsport world ending his 11 years partnership with Mercedes.
Quartararo an F1 enthusiast visited Maranello in January and was shown around by Piero Ferrari who subtly suggested the signing. However, Quartararo only fully understood the hint after the official announcement. Hamilton known for his love of motorcycles had previously engaged in a ride swap with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi in 2019.
Quartararo had discussions about driving a Mercedes F1 car in 2022 but nothing materialized.
