British teenager Oliver Bearman will step in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after Sainz underwent successful appendicitis surgery. Despite missing media duties on Wednesday due to illness, Sainz participated in practice sessions before the diagnosis.
Bearman part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2021 made a solid debut securing 10th place in practice. The 18 years old won the 2021 Italian and ADAC F4 titles finished third in his rookie F3 campaign in 2022 and had a successful debut F2 season in 2023.
Sainz is recovering and Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari in 2025. Bearman is the 14th British driver to race for Ferrari in F1.
