During the afternoon session of pre-season testing in Bahrain, Carlos Sainz topped the timesheets with a lap time of 1:30.424. Sainz driving for Ferrari used C4 tires to set this benchmark improving on the morning’s interrupted session due to a loose drain cover.
Sainz’s teammate Charles Leclerc faced damage from the loose cover but Ferrari swiftly repaired the car for Sainz to resume testing. Lando Norris in a McLaren held the second position while Red Bull’s day led by Max Verstappen encountered challenges with Sergio Perez’s car issue.
Perez despite the setback secured the fourth position. Lewis Hamilton in his first day with the 2024 Mercedes claimed the seventh spot.
