FIFA President Gianni Infantino has dismissed the idea of introducing blue cards for sin-bin trials emphasizing his opposition to the proposal. While football’s rule makers are set to approve sin-bin trials, the concept of blue cards is likely to be abandoned.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) will discuss sin-bin trials at its annual general meeting with debate focusing on whether they should be issued for dissent or cynical fouls. The Premier League has distanced itself from sin-bin trials with concerns raised by managers.

VAR will also be discussed particularly the extension of referees confirming decisions and Infantino reaffirmed his support for VAR in football. Additionally, Infantino rejected the concept of temporary concussion substitutes emphasizing FIFA’s commitment to player health and the impracticality of determining the seriousness of a concussion within minutes.
