Tommy Fleetwood Wins Dubai Invitational by One Shot in Thrilling Finish.

Tommy Fleetwood emerged victorious in a thrilling final round of the Dubai Invitational, securing a one-shot win on Sunday as Rory McIlroy bogeyed his last hole. Fleetwood, from England, concluded with a birdie in the final round, posting a 67 for a total of 19-under-par. McIlroy and South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence finished one shot behind in a captivating conclusion at the Dubai Creek Resort.

Expressing his satisfaction, Fleetwood said, “It was great. I think I was very happy with the way I played today for the large majority of the round.” McIlroy briefly claimed the solo lead with a birdie on the 17th, reaching 19-under par overall, but a water hazard on the final hole proved costly. Fleetwood maintained his composure, securing a birdie to clinch his seventh DP World Tour title.

In a closely contested battle, Fleetwood began the day with a one-shot lead over the world number two, facing stiff competition from McIlroy and Lawrence, who delivered a flawless seven-under-par 64.

Reflecting on the competition, McIlroy acknowledged, “First week back out, I think you have to expect some of those sloppy mistakes. Unfortunately for me, some of those mistakes came at the wrong time.”

While Fleetwood’s lone bogey at the 16th added tension, he finished strongly with two birdies. Despite some missed putts, Fleetwood commended McIlroy’s performance, describing the match as up and down towards the end.
