On Wednesday, world No. 10 Lee Zii Jia commenced his Swiss Open campaign with a victory over Taiwan’s Yang Su Li securing a spot in the last 16. The Malaysian player defeated Su Li in two sets, facing some resistance in the opening game but ultimately displaying resilience to secure the win.
Zii Jia, a former All England champion dominated the second game leading from start to finish. Despite Su Li’s recent successes against higher-ranked opponents, Zii Jia managed to secure the win. In the next round, he will face either India’s K. Srikanth or Taiwan’s Wang Tzu Wei.
As the top seed in the tournament, Zii Jia aims to claim his fifth World Tour title and hopes to celebrate his 26th birthday on March 29 with a perfect present.
