Meg Lanning, the former Australia cricket captain revealed that her retirement was prompted by her struggle with food and exercise which had spiraled out of control. She admitted to over-exercising and under-fuelling her body leading to physical and mental exhaustion.
Despite her successful career, Lanning felt things were “out of whack” and she became “a different person” due to her obsession with exercise. Although she didn’t label it as an eating disorder, she sought help and is now in a better place. Lanning continues to play domestic cricket and has joined London Spirit for The Hundred tournament.
