Jonathan Morgan, former head coach of Sheffield United faces accusations of “inappropriate and predatory behavior” from the mother of a female player he dated during his time at Leicester City. The player who was initially reported to be 18 at the start of their relationship alleges she was actually 17. Morgan denies this asserting she was an “18 years old adult.”

Despite being cleared to return to work by Sheffield United following an investigation into a complaint by the family of Maddy Cusack who died in September, Morgan was subsequently dismissed after revelations about his relationship with a player at Leicester surfaced. The player and her mother claim Morgan abused his position of power and made advances toward her when she was underage.

Morgan defends the relationship as consensual and insists it was not unusual within the sport. However, the FA has since implemented stricter regulations regarding relationships between coaches and players particularly those under 18. Morgan has also been accused of mistreating Cusack during his time at Burnley and Sheffield United.

Sheffield United deemed Morgan’s position “untenable” after learning of new allegations against him. Tongue Tied Management the agency representing Morgan terminated their contract with him following the revelations.
