Former Turkish international footballer Ersen Martin has died at the age of 44. Martin who played for prominent clubs such as Besiktas and Trabzonspor passed away after suffering from health complications including a ruptured aorta in 2022.
Despite efforts to treat him, Martin ultimately succumbed to his condition. While his former clubs expressed grief over his passing reports indicate that Martin’s family faced financial difficulties in covering his medical expenses.
Despite his challenging circumstances, Martin’s contributions to Turkish football were recognized and commemorated by various entities including his former clubs and the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports. Martin’s football career spanned 13 clubs including a stint in Spain and he represented the Turkish national team in three matches.
