Former United Coach Criticizes Erik ten Hag for Lack of Progress

A former Manchester United coach who played a role in the club’s success under Sir Alex Ferguson criticized Erik ten Hag for the lack of progress during his tenure as manager. Following United heavy 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, pressure has intensified on ten Hag as the team sits eighth in the Premier League table.

Rene Meulensteen who served at United from 2007 to 2013 expressed frustration at the lack of improvement under ten Hag leadership, noting the absence of a distinct playing style or club philosophy. Despite initial success including winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final, ten Hag has faced challenges in his second year with United’s Champions League exit and the likelihood of missing European qualification next season.
