Lyon has accused West Ham of causing the collapse of a loan deal for Said Benrahma citing a failure to complete the necessary actions before the transfer deadline. In a strongly worded statement, Lyon criticized West Ham’s behavior labeling it as disrespectful towards both the club and the player.

They indicated their intention to pursue appropriate procedures to validate the transaction at a later date and hold West Ham accountable if needed. Benrahma who joined West Ham in 2020 has faced a dip in form this season prompting Lyon’s interest in securing his loan.

Meanwhile, West Ham had yet to finalize Pablo Fornals’ move to Real Betis by the transfer deadline. Fornals who has struggled for regular playing time, was expected to depart if the right offer was received despite the club triggering a one-year contract extension for him in December.
