From Rugby to NFL: Louis Rees-Zammit's Bold Transition and Ambitions
Louis Rees-Zammit expresses his enthusiasm for the “great” experience of transitioning from rugby union to the NFL through the international player pathway (IPP). The 23 years old Welsh and Gloucester wing aims to secure a spot on an American football team in 2024 and has relocated to Florida for a 10 weeks training program.
Rees-Zammit who left rugby in January aspires to be a Super Bowl champion in the next five years and hopes to inspire others pursuing the IPP. He acknowledges the challenges of learning a new sport but is determined to make his NFL dream a reality.
Despite facing criticism in rugby especially for emulating Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration, Rees-Zammit focuses on his passion and strives to avoid negativity. With increased social media popularity since his NFL commitment he appreciates the support and remains open to a potential rugby return if his NFL venture doesn’t materialize.
