Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique reiterates his assertion that the club’s owners are responsible for Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave. Klopp recently announced his departure at the end of the season after nine years with the club. Enrique who played under Klopp believes the manager is weary of the American owners FSG for not sufficiently supporting him in the transfer market.
Despite Klopp denying Enrique’s claims the latter insists that FSG’s involvement in transfers and the demands placed on Klopp led to his decision. The owners Fenway Sports Group have faced criticism from fans particularly after their involvement in the European Super League debacle. Despite this, they oversaw a successful period for the club and appointed Klopp in 2015.
