During the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai SEA and CN closed qualifiers, an unexpected incident disrupted the lower bracket final series between IHC Esports and Geek Fam. In the midst of Game 2 against Geek Fam, IHC Esports, a Mongolian esports organization, experienced a sudden power outage at the Predator League facility in Manila, Philippines. Allegedly, one of IHC’s players claimed that Acer intentionally turned off the electricity during their match.
Following IHC Esports’ disconnection, Geek Fam initiated a 10-minute pause on their behalf. When the pause period ended, Geek Fam had the option to either use their own pause time or resume the game. They chose to un-pause and aggressively pushed the mid-lane with all five heroes, concluding the game in just 8 minutes and 48 seconds. This victory secured Geek Fam’s spot in the grand finals with a 2-0 series win.
Notably, Geek Fam was not obligated to continue the pause timer, and although they offered their full pause time to IHC Esports, it proved insufficient for the technical team to resolve the electricity issue in time.
IHC Esports’ position five support, Tugstur “Se” Dashzevge, took to Facebook to explain the situation, stating that the Acer tech team unexpectedly shut off their electricity, leading to their defeat in Game 2.
As the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai SEA and CN closed qualifiers are conducted online, IHC Esports is concurrently participating in the Asia Pacific Predator League 2024 tournament in Manila, where 10 teams are vying for a share of the $100,000 prize pool.
Geek Fam, having secured their place in the grand finals, is currently facing off against Azure Ray, the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 champion, in a best-of-five (BO5) series. The winner of this series will secure a slot at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai main tournament.
