Geoffrey Boycott expressed dissatisfaction with England bowling resources during the Test series against India which ended in a 1-4 defeat for England. Boycott criticized the inexperienced bowling attack highlighting the challenges faced by spinners Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir and the limited effectiveness of fast bowler Mark Wood.

He emphasized the lack of intimidation in England bowling lineup and noted the sparing use of veteran seamer Anderson and the fitness concerns of all-rounder Ben Stokes. Despite the absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul (after the first Test) from India’s batting lineup England couldn’t secure a victory.

Boycott pointed out that inexperienced bowlers were unlikely to outperform experienced Indian spinners in India. With only one England bowler in the top five wicket-takers Hartley, England faces challenges in the World Test Championship currently positioned at eighth place after winning only three out of 10 Tests.
