Getafe is on the verge of an unfortunate record in Europe top five leagues and could also set an all-time La Liga record. Despite being 12th in La Liga this season, they’ve only won three league games since 2024 began. Manager Jose Bordalas previously led the team to success including a Europa League quarter-final.
This season, their focus intensified with the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United. However, Greenwood involvement also highlighted their disciplinary issues with Getafe accumulating 104 yellow cards the most in Europe’s top leagues.
They’re on track to break Espanyol’s record of 143 yellow cards in a single season. With just 10 matches left, Getafe needs to maintain their average of 3.71 yellow cards per game to make La Liga history.
