Great Britain Wins Bronze in 4x100m Mixed Medley Relay at World Championships
Great Britain secured a bronze medal in the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the World Championships in Doha with the team comprising Medi Harris, Adam Peaty, Matthew Richards and Anna Hopkin. The British quartet finished in 3 minutes 40.22 seconds also earning a relay quota spot for the Paris Games. The United States claimed gold while Australia took silver.
Earlier, Adam Peaty came fourth in the men’s 50m breaststroke and Matthew Richards reached the men’s 100m freestyle final. Peaty and Hopkin were part of the 4x100m mixed medley team that won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. Daniel Wiffen made history as Ireland’s first world swimming champion winning the 800m freestyle final.
Duncan Scott and Laura Stephens progressed to the finals in the men’s 200m medley and women’s 200m butterfly respectively. Great Britain has won one gold, three silver and eight bronze medals at the World Aquatics Championships. Lauren Cox qualified for the women’s 50m backstroke final while Kathleen Dawson narrowly missed out on an individual final.
