During the Golden State Warriors’ 113-112 victory over the Phoenix Suns a heated exchange unfolded between Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic. After Nurkic taunted Green with a “too small” gesture following a successful hook shot, Green retaliated by backing Nurkic down for a score and mimicking the floor slap.
The game marked the first meeting since Green’s suspension on Dec. 12 for hitting Nurkic in the head. Nurkic criticized Green for not learning from his past behavior while Green defended his actions asserting that he had a great performance and was not affected by Nurkic’s attempts to get into his head.
The Warriors view Green’s ability to handle such situations as evidence of positive change since his suspension. Despite the verbal sparring Green contributed significantly to the Warriors’ win finishing with 15 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.
