Historic Win: Leverkusen’s Unbeaten Streak Continues Against Mainz

Bayer Leverkusen secured a historic 33 games unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga by defeating Mainz. Granit Xhaka’s early goal was equalized by Dominik Kohr but Robert Andrich’s long-range shot fumbled into the net by Mainz’s keeper sealed Leverkusen’s victory.

With an 11 points lead over second placed Bayern Munich, Xabi Alonso’s team continues to dominate the league. Mainz’s chances suffered a blow as Jessic Ngankam received a red card. Xhaka’s goal marked his first for Leverkusen and in the Bundesliga since 2015.

Bayern Munich set to part ways with Thomas Tuchel faces RB Leipzig in their upcoming match.
