Iconic Figures Unite: Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Football Legends Remember Munich Tragedy at Old Trafford
Sir Jim Ratcliffe attended the Munich memorial service at Old Trafford on the 66th anniversary of the tragedy marking the first time since his £1.3 billion investment in Manchester United.
The Ineos owner was joined by Sir Dave Brailsford, Sir Alex Ferguson, manager Erik ten Hag and captain Bruno Fernandes among others. The service led by fan group Munich58 paid tribute to the Busby Babes and staff who died in the 1958 crash.
Similar ceremonies took place in Munich and Mike Phelan represented the club at Manchesterplatz. Rev. John Boyers led the Old Trafford service, featuring poems, songs and a two minutes silence at 3:04 pm the exact time of the crash.
Wreaths were laid and The Flowers of Manchester was sung in remembrance. The Manchester United Foundation’s Street Reds participants were also part of the delegation contributing to the ceremony.
