Tributes pour in for the late Stan Bowles hailed as a ‘maverick’ and ‘great entertainer.’ Bowles an England international debuted in 1974 scoring his only goal against Wales the same year. His autobiography in 1996 delved into both his on and off-pitch life addressing topics like gambling and drinking.
The English Football League and various personalities including Gary Lineker and Trevor Sinclair remember Bowles as a wonderful player, maverick and QPR legend. The official England team account pays respects to his five appearances for the national team.
Leyton Orient also mourns the loss acknowledging Bowles’ contribution during the 1980-81 season.
