England’s chances of forcing a series decider against India diminished on day three of the fourth Test in Ranchi. India staged a remarkable fightback starting the day 134 runs behind with only three first-innings wickets left. Led by Dhruv Jurel’s 90 India reached 307 setting a target of 192.

England’s spin bowler Shoaib Bashir took 5-119 becoming the second youngest England bowler to claim a five wickets haul in Test cricket. England’s second innings featured Zak Crawley’s 60 and Jonny Bairstow’s 30 but they were all out for 145.

India ended the day at 40-0 requiring 192 to win and lead the series 3-1. England faces a challenging task on the fourth morning to keep the series alive. Dhruv Jurel’s crucial innings, Shoaib Bashir’s remarkable performance and India’s spinners dominating the conditions were key highlights of the day.
