Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is expected to miss several weeks due to a right MCL injury sustained during Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers as reported by ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski. Butler injury occurred in the first quarter but he continued playing, albeit with reduced performance.
Miami ultimately lost the game and Butler absence will impact their upcoming match against the Chicago Bulls where the winner will secure the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Point guard Terry Rozier is also sidelined with a strained neck.
Butler underwent an MRI on Thursday to assess the extent of his injury. Despite his hope to recover quickly, his absence will be felt by the Heat who are also dealing with an injury to shooting guard Duncan Robinson.
