Known as the ‘Derby d’Italia’ since 1967 the rivalry between Inter Milan and Juventus is marked by intense passion and rivalry. In their recent clash, Inter’s 1-0 victory put them in a commanding position for the Serie A title with a four-point lead and a game in hand.
Inter’s current squad under coach Simeone Inzaghi, is considered their best since Jose Mourinho’s Treble-winning team in 2010 showcasing discipline, authority and consistency. Juventus led by Massimiliano Allegri put up a resilient performance thanks in part to goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny’s outstanding saves.
Despite their impressive performance, Allegri’s pragmatic style of football has faced criticism from fans. However, Juventus has shown resilience and overachieved considering the challenges they’ve faced including points deductions and changes in management.
With a focus on youth, Juventus is building for the future although they face a tough challenge against the formidable Inter side. The Serie A title race promises more excitement and unpredictability in the coming weeks.
