Jenson Button believes Mercedes has the strongest chance of challenging Red Bull in the 2024 Formula 1 season following the dominant display by the latter in the previous year. Despite Max Verstappen clinching his third title in 2023, the battle behind Red Bull was closely contested among teams like Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren. Button expects Mercedes to make significant improvements over the winter break, potentially closing the gap to Red Bull.

He also acknowledges the strong driver line-ups at Mercedes, particularly Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Additionally, Button anticipates a promising year for McLaren with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The 2024 season is set to kick off in Bahrain on February 29 with teams preparing to unveil their new cars in February.
