British tennis player Jodie Burrage ranked 102nd globally progressed to the second round of the Linz Open despite a shaky start. Initially losing her opening service game, Burrage recovered impressively to defeat French seventh seed Varvara Gracheva ranked 46th with a score of 6-4 6-0. This victory marked Burrage’s fifth career win against a top 50 opponent.
She credited her successful qualification for the tournament in Austria for helping her adjust to the court. Burrage now joins fellow Briton Katie Boulter in the next round and will face either Jaqueline Cristian or Nadia Podoroska. Reflecting on her performance Burrage expressed satisfaction with her play and emphasized taking each match one step at a time.
