Joe Gomez has reflected on his return to the England squad, marking the end of a challenging period following a knee injury sustained during Three Lions training in November 2020. The Liverpool defender, now 26 expressed relief at closing that chapter and returning to international duty.
Despite the psychological toll of the injury, Gomez is grateful for the opportunity to be back in the mix with the national team. While he remains focused on his current form with Liverpool, Gomez is not looking too far ahead choosing to concentrate on the present rather than thinking about potential inclusion in the squad for Euro 2024.
With Liverpool competing on multiple fronts this season, Gomez is determined to make the most of each opportunity and continue performing well under manager Jurgen Klopp’s guidance.
