World no. 67 must avoid future injuries to repair his ranking

Justin Hoh, the Malaysian men’s singles shuttler, has suffered a right foot injury after recovering from a left Achilles tendon rupture. He will be out of action for four weeks.

Justin, who is ranked No. 67 in the world, missed the Cambodia SEA Games in May and is in danger of dropping out of the top 100 if he continues to miss tournaments.

Justin is being groomed to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and avoiding further injuries is more important than improving his world ranking at the moment.

Men’s doubles player Yap Roy King also sustained a knee injury at the Syed Modi International and will not compete in any tournaments next month.

Justin Hoh is a 19-year-old Malaysian badminton player who was promoted to the senior ranks in November 2022. He had undergone surgery in April 2023 to repair a rupture in the left Achilles tendon in his leg.

Justin had missed the Malaysian International Challenge as a result of failing his first test to determine if he was fully fit and ready for tournament action. He was relieved after finally receiving medical clearance to compete.
