The Kansas City Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl win in five years with a comeback victory of 25-22 in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite the 49ers twice being on the brink of victory a last minutes field goal by the Chiefs sent the game into overtime. Patrick Mahomes’ touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman ultimately secured the win solidifying the Chiefs as the first NFL dynasty since the New England Patriots.

Mahomes (28) became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to win three or more Super Bowls while coach Andy Reid secured his third win as well. Despite a defensively dominated game, Mahomes’ performance made the difference. The Chiefs’ win maintains their status as a dominant force in the NFL reaching four of the past five Super Bowls and achieving back to back titles a feat not seen since the Patriots in 2004.

The 49ers, despite their offensive efforts faced another painful defeat in the Super Bowl. The game’s attraction was heightened by a surprise appearance from Prince Harry and the presence of music superstar Taylor Swift who has a high profile relationship with Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce. The victory extends the Chiefs’ winning streak in the tournament to 11 since 2022.

The high stakes match featured strong defensive plays and multiple turnovers with Mahomes named the Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Player for a third time. Chiefs’ quarterback Mahomes and coach Reid expressed pride in their team’s perseverance and credited their success to both offense and defense. The 49ers’ coach Kyle Shanahan faced another Super Bowl defeat despite strategic decisions during the game.
