Katie Boulter Resilient Comeback Secures Quarterfinal Spot at San Diego Open

Katie Boulter staged a comeback from a set down to defeat second seed Beatriz Haddad Maia 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 securing her spot in the quarterfinals at the San Diego Open. Despite missed opportunities in the first set, Boulter bounced back in the second taking the decisive break. Although Maia fought back in the third set, Boulter held her nerve to close out the match.

Reflecting on her victory, Boulter acknowledged the challenging battle and maintained composure despite distractions in the second set. The British No. 1 aiming to become the first British woman to reach a WTA 500 semi-final since 2018 will face the winner of Donna Vekic and Marina Stakusic. 

In other results, Jessica Pegula returned to competition with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Jule Niemeier while Daria Saville saved a match point to advance to her first WTA 500 quarterfinal since 2022 by overcoming Tatjana Maria 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
