Kidambi Srikanth’s journey in the 2024 Swiss Open came to an unfortunate end as he suffered defeat in the men’s singles semi-finals against Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei. The match, lasting one hour and five minutes, saw Srikanth lose 21-15, 9-21, 18-21, despite starting strongly with a win in the opening game.
Despite a brief advantage in the second game, Chun-Yi rallied to secure victory. The decider was closely contested but Chun-Yi ultimately emerged victorious. This marked Srikanth’s first BWF semi-final appearance since November 2022.
He was the last remaining Indian shuttler in the tournament with other Indian players being eliminated in earlier rounds. PV Sindhu’s performance in women’s singles concluded in the second round.
