Kieran McKenna was surprised by Middlesbrough counter-attacking approach as Ipswich Town drew 1-1 at Portman Road. McKenna familiar with Boro boss Michael Carrick had anticipated a similar style of play from both teams. Despite Ipswich enjoying more possession and shots on goal, Boro proved threatening on the counter taking the lead through Emmanuel Latte Lath before being equalized by Massimo Luongo.

McKenna expressed pride in his team’s performance praising their bravery and confidence. He acknowledged the challenge posed by Middlesbrough, noting their strength on the counter-attack which was unexpected. Overall, McKenna felt his team dominated much of the game and could have secured a win but also acknowledged the crucial saves made by goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.
