The New York Knicks have filed a protest with the NBA over their 105-103 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night. The protest centers on the Last Two Minute Report revealing an incorrectly called foul on Knicks’ Jalen Brunson against Houston’s Aaron Holiday in the final second according to sources.

Holiday’s subsequent free throws secured the Rockets’ victory. The Knicks hope the protest will either result in a tied game with overtime or some form of remedy. Protests in the NBA require demonstrating a “misapplication” of a rule not just a missed call.

The Knicks currently facing injuries and on a three games losing streak have a 33-21 record and hold the fourth position in the Eastern Conference. The NBA has upheld protests only six times in its history with the last instance occurring on December 19, 2007.
