Leeds United Welcomes Hollywood Star Will Ferrell as Investor
Hollywood superstar Will Ferrell is poised to become one of the celebrity investors at Championship club Leeds United. According to BBC Radio Leeds, Ferrell investment will be a minor stake, with no involvement in decision-making at Elland Road. Since last summer, the club has been under the ownership of 49ers Enterprises following a £170 million takeover. Fellow actor Russell Crowe also holds a stake in Leeds, having considered buying the club in 2015.
The current owners, the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise count several US sports stars among their shareholders including golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. Ferrell renowned for his roles in films like Elf and Anchorman is an avid sports enthusiast and already holds a share in Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC.
Notably, he attended a game involving Wrexham, co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Leeds who finished third in the Championship, will compete in a two-leg playoff against Norwich City for a chance to return to the Premier League.
