Liverpool and Arsenal headlines FA Cup third round

In the FA Cup third-round draw, Arsenal has been paired with fellow Premier League title contenders Liverpool, while struggling Manchester United will remain in the northern part of England for a match against Wigan Athletic.

The last encounter between the two teams resulted in a thrilling 2-2 draw in a Premier League clash at Anfield, denting Arsenal’s chances of securing their first league title in two decades. Both teams are poised to go head-to-head again in the league this season, and now they have an additional match in the form of a cup tie to settle.

For the record, Arsenal currently holds the record for the most FA Cup victories with 14 wins, while Liverpool has not claimed the title since 2006.

The 2022/23 champions, Manchester City, will face Championship side Huddersfield, while their neighbors, Manchester United, are set for a challenging trip to Wigan Athletic.

All matches are scheduled to take place between January 5 and 8 next year.
