In the upcoming 2024 Thomas Cup finals in Chengdu, China, Malaysia faces European powerhouse Denmark in Group D,with doubles pairs expected to play a crucial role. Rexy Mainaky, the coaching director of Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM), emphasizes the importance of Malaysia securing points in the doubles matches against Denmark strong singles players, including world number one Viktor Axelsen and Malaysian Open champion Anders Antonsen.

Mainaky also highlights the threat posed by Hong Kong singles players, Lee Cheuk Yiu and Angus Ng Ka Long. Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong is recovering from lower back surgery while Lee Zii Jia has shown promise in recent matches. The group also includes African champions Algeria.
