Both Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in Jeremie Frimpong who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Despite having a contract until 2028, Frimpong has a £35 million release clause that can be activated only this summer.
City views him as a potential successor to Kyle Walker while United sees him as a perfect fit for their new regime. Frimpong who has spent time at Celtic and City academy has been impressive this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists.
Both clubs are considering triggering his release clause to secure his services. United under new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to strengthen their defense for the upcoming season. Currently, Leverkusen is competing with Tottenham and Aston Villa for a top-four finish in the Bundesliga.
