Manchester United are determined to recruit Dan Ashworth from Newcastle as their sporting director despite a significant valuation gap between the two clubs. Sir Jim Ratcliffe the new co-owner of United is adamant about appointing top talent to key positions at the club. Ashworth renowned for his success in player recruitment is highly sought after by United.

However, Newcastle demanding compensation fee of £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons has stalled negotiations. Ratcliffe refuses to overpay and is willing to wait until autumn or winter to secure a deal. In the meantime Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox have joined United with Ratcliffe confident that Ashworth will eventually join the club.

Magpies legend Alan Shearer believes Ashworth departure from Newcastle is inevitable and predicts that United will ultimately secure his services.
